SIXEL; Staff BODY: Maxxam President John ""Mick'' Seidl will resign from the company at the end of the year. Citing personal reasons, Seidl also will leave his posts as chairman and chief executive officer of Maxxam's subsidiary companies, Kaiser Aluminum Corp. and Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. He will also quit as Pacific Lumber Co. chairman. Seidl also will resign as director of Maxxam, the Kaiser companies and Pacific Lumber. Seidl did not return a telephone call seeking comment. Maxxam spokesman Robert Irelan said Seidl wanted to limit his comments to those in a press release released Monday that stated: ""I have been lucky enough to have held interesting and exciting leadership positions in a number of companies in American business and industry since 1978. Those 14 years have been great fun. I also have had the good fortune to have enjoyed challenging positions in the academic world and the federal government in Washington, D.C., before my business career. Nineteen ninety three is the right year for me to reflect on all those experiences and decide how I wish to spend the next 10 to 15 years of my life. '' PAGE 74
