	AS summer wends its steamy way off the calendar, our three-month respite 
from social whirling also comes to an end.

 It's party time!

 	The season begins in earnest shortly with balls, benefits, luncheons, 
fashion shows and every imaginable form of fundraiser to keep the 
nonprofit entities of Houston and beyond rolling.

 	Further, our burgeoning benefit social calendar also keeps the 
caterers, party planners, rental agencies, stationers, retailers, beauty 
salons, florists, party designers and a segment of the public relations 
field sailing in smooth financial waters, at least for a time. Think 
about it. This is big business in Houston.
